A Personal Selection by The Macallan’s Master Maker
Part of the now-discontinued “1824 Collection” (originally released exclusively for the global travel retail market), this expression was crafted by The Macallan’s former Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno, for his own personal enjoyment.
Unlike standard releases, this whisky is bottled at Dalgarno’s preferred strength of 42.8% ABV (rather than the usual 40% or 43%). It is designed to be approachable yet complex, utilizing a mix of sherry and bourbon casks to create a profile that is lighter and more layered than the traditional heavy “Sherry Oak” Macallans.
Tasting Profile:
-
Nose: Fresh fruit, ginger, and toffee sweetness.
-
Palate: Delicate and smooth. Layers of prune, ripe fruit, and soft wood spice.
-
Finish: Medium-long with lingering spice and a hint of smoke.
