The Macallan Folio 1-7 set offers a full retrospective of the legendary 1980s and 90s advertising that propelled the brand to global prominence. Bottled between 2015 and 2023, these seven individual, 43% ABV Sherry Seasoned single malts are presented in matching book-shaped tins, each celebrating a distinct campaign:
Folio 1: “The name Macallan…” (The first small, witty advert that appeared in The Times newspaper).
Folio 2: “A Place Called Macallan” (Featuring illustrations by artist Sara Midda, focusing on the Speyside estate).
Folio 3: The advert inspired by a remark in Punch magazine about whisky being best in cold weather.
Folio 4: The ad featuring a Strathspey dance tune with musical notation, inspired by the whisky.
Folio 5: “The Luggy Bonnet” (A whimsical tale of a traditional tweed bonnet).
Folio 6: The image of former chairman Allan Shiach fishing.
Folio 7: “The Boffins Baffled” (The story of scientists unable to explain Macallan’s magic).
