A definitive expression of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, the Midleton Very Rare Barry Crockett Legacy was created to honor the 47-year career of Master Distiller Emeritus Barry Crockett. This 2019 release (Batch MSPS:19) is a personal selection of rare, aged pot still whiskeys matured exclusively in a combination of seasoned and unseasoned American bourbon barrels.
This particular bottle is presented in the original handcrafted wooden cabinet, a luxury feature that Midleton has since transitioned away from in favor of sustainable packaging. As a 2019 bottling, this represents a classic era of the Legacy series, prized for its complex balance of creamy honey, garden fruits, and signature pot still spice.
Tasting Notes:
-
Nose: Elegant aromas of vanilla and toasted oak, followed by light lime, succulent green berries, and ripe pears.
-
Palate: A silky mouthfeel with initial pepper spice that gives way to fresh citrus, mandarin orange, and rich vanilla.
-
Finish: Exceptionally long and structured, with the clean foundation of American oak lingering until the end.
