Presented here is a museum-grade example of the Mount Gay Tricentennial Selection, a limited-edition masterpiece released in 2003 to mark three centuries of rum-making excellence in Barbados. This is Bottle No. 948 of only 3,000 ever produced, making it one of the most significant rums in the distillery’s modern history.
The Blend: Crafted by former Master Blender Jerry Edwards, this expression is a complex marriage of three legendary vintages: 1969, 1974, and 1976. Matured in the tropical climate of Barbados, the result is a sophisticated profile of deep oak, leather, and ripe banana, transitioning into notes of dried prunes, bitter almond, and a whisper of smoke.
Provenance & Condition: This specific lot is unique due to its impeccable provenance. Included is the original sales receipt from the Mount Gay Rum Visitors’ Centre in Exmouth Gap, Barbados, dated Tuesday, June 17, 2003. Purchased for $600.00 BBD during the peak of the anniversary celebrations, this documentation provides a rare, documented history that significantly enhances its value for serious collectors and investors.
The bottle is housed in its original crimson leatherette presentation case with silk lining and includes the hand-signed and numbered parchment booklet. The seal is intact, and the liquid level is excellent, preserved perfectly since its original purchase over two decades ago.
